I had stayed at Lodgepole before, and somehow never heard of Dorst Creek. Several months before Labor day we decided to try a go to Sequoia. Lodgepole was booked, but Dorst had plenty of room. I reserved site 15. Backed up to Dorst Creek and a meadow. Probably 50' between sites on each side of us and they were parallel pull-throughs. This was SO much better then Lodgepole which seems like you are on top of each other! Down side is there is no showers, however there is a dump station and water spigots. With the blue tote and water cans, in an RV it was no problem! Beautiful campground and probably the best site there!

This is the fourth Thousand Trails park we have stayed in. We rate it number one of the four! Not all the sites have sewer (most do, so I asked the ranger at the gate which would be a good site with sewer. He said, hop in the electric cart and I'll show you. He took me to one that was across from the pool, and close enough to the lodge to get WiFi. By far the best service so far in TT. I like the cleanliness of everything here. The employees are proud of the park, you can tell. they have been very friendly and helpful. The mini-golf, the horseshoe pits that include rakes and brooms, the RC car track, all clean and in good shape. The only negative for some would be that it has tight corners, coming in, and also within the park. No problem for my 28' travel trailer. We will be back..

I liked this park. It has two swimming pools and a hot tub. You need to be in sites 1-30 to have a campfire (we were and did). There is a real feel of community here. The flies were bad. I guess it is to be expected because this is a working horse ranch. WiFi in the adult lodge. Mini-golf was fun, and the wives had fun with the crossword puzzle. We will go back.

Don't let the 5/10 keep you away. I will be back. Apparently this park was at one time a membership park. It was severely run down, and was full of Jerry Springer wanna bee's. 6 months ago a new owner took over. Most tenants were kicked out the new owner is attempting to make this a family park. The pool was very clean and nice. The restroom and showers were improving. Flowers and grass have been planted. Decks and buildings repaired and painted. Sites are weird in that some do not have water, but do have sewer. It looks like they are putting splitters on the hose bibs. The managers are strict but fair. This is probably necessary right now. They were very helpful, and shared truthful information of the conditions before I got there. If they keep up the work, in 6 more months it will probably be up to a 7-8. And as I said, especially for the price with Passport America, I will be back.. Hopefully they will keep up the good work. This could be a real nice park again..

I like country style parks. This is one of those. It is not fancy, but I enjoyed it. Easy trail to Columbia State park. The marble quarry was fascinating. We were allowed to have a campfire in our washtub. Although there are lots of trees, I got lucky and was able to get Satellite with my roof mounted dish. They do not claim WiFi, but I was able to get it sometimes at my campsite 46. Used Passport America for a GREAT price.

Good location on the Sacramento River. Was a good reasonable central home base for exploring the area. The have docks for your boat. They have their own restaurant on-site. Saw people eating there, we did not. Was able to have a campfire in our washtub.

We really enjoyed our stray at Henry Cowell. The campgrounds are just above the redwood tree line. You are situated in oak, and pine. It is a short hike to the redwood groves. We did a 2 mile round trip that took you into an amazing redwood forest and to a beautiful stream. You can also drive 5 minutes to the visitor center and the old growth redwood grove. Roaring Camp Big Trees Railroad is a must. It takes you on a narrow gauge into the redwoods! If you are staying at the campground you can park for free at the visitor center and walk 100' to the railroad.

Between Julian and Anza Borrego. 150 Lazy Daze motorhomes were having a caravan here. Camped us by ourselves on other side of park. Very quiet. Great night sky! Owners were very pleasant and helpful.

This is predominately a park model resort. There are a limited amount of RV spaces. When we arrived on Sunday the office was closed. No problem, they have a dozen of so envelopes with different sites around the park marked on them. They tell you to find the spot you like and settle up on Monday. With Passport America I paid $118.00 total tax included for 6 nights. Park has mainly seniors in it, but children are welcome. They have two sides, the West and East. East is about 10 years newer. I like that side better. Sites vary in size, pick the one you like. There are trees and a pad, but no tables. Remember this is mainly a park model resort. I was able to get satellite reception. Between the two sides they have 4 pools, 2 of them are family pools, 2 of them are adult only. The family pools are separated from the adult pools. They also have a total of 6 hot tubs with different heat levels. All are naturally hot spring water heated. The family pools are kept at about 85-87 degrees and the adult pools are 90-93 degrees. The hot tubs are varied from 95 degrees to the "lobster pot" which is 105 degrees. Not much chlorine is added due to the natural minerals. The pools are sparkling clear. You do not feel like you have chemicals (chlorine) all over you like normal pools. Why did I give it an 8 rating? The park is nice but I probably would only give it a 6 to 6 1/2. The pools I would give an 9. Since the pools are important to me I weighted the pools score more.
